AMAZING - 'Dare to Wear' Wearable Art Cooktown

The 'Dare to Wear' Wearable Art Fundraiser was a huge success when held in Cooktown at the Shire Hall on Saturday 21st July 2012 from 2pm to 5pm.

'Dare to Wear' Wearable Art Fundraiser Event

Saturday 21st July from 2pm to 5pm at Shire Hall
Mark you diary to attend. Fee $15 guests and $10 for entrants!
Fashion Parade, Refreshments, Belly dancers, fun included!

The fundraiser is designed to be a fun event and the prizes including Peoples Choice, will reflect this.

ANYTHING GOES! Make & create something wearable that is amazingly fantasmogoric, lusciously sensual, dastardly wicked or just plain fabulous in any material you choose (could be textile of any type, hide, fabric paper, plastic, plant Mata). 

You may make as many show-stopping outfits as you please but YOU, or a model of your choosing has to model it at the fundraising afternoon tea to be held 21 July from 2pm to 5pm.
You are also to supply your own extra “bits” you or your model may wish to wear with your outfit(s) – be they flashing lights, wigs etc.
All garments to be at the Shire Hall by lunch time 21 July.

Mosaic Class - Rosalie Andre - Week 2

Some pics from Betty Clarke of this weeks Mosaic Art Workshop by Rosie Andre.   

We will be having another next weekend despite it being Easter as it was such fun we all agreed to come back next Saturday!  We are ready to get down and dirty with the black grout, as you can see 3 of the mosaics have been finished already.  We are all looking forward to the next stage.

'Cooktown Creations' Art Works at C. 1907 Contemporary Artspace in Cairns



 C. 1907 Contemporary Artspace - An Initiative of Cairns Regional Council - showcasing the Cooktown Creations Exhibition Art Works from 20th to 25th February 2012 with funding and support from Cook Shire Council RADF Committee.  Thanks to the wonderful sponsors and artist volunteers without whom this would not be possible!  

We've had many positive comments from those attending the opening and also many emails of support.  Also for those who have been checking our posts and photo uploads and ticking 'likes' on Cooktown Art Facebook!  we have been encouraged to do more art events such as this in the future!  Thanks!

'Cooktown Creations' Exhibition at C.1907 Art Space, CAIRNS Opened!

Cooktown Creations Exhibition opened by Mayor Val Schier Monday evening was a great success.  Seven art works sold - a painting by Maria Verter, a palm fibre basket by Wendy Jane Snape, a ceramic art work by Rosalie Andre, paintings by Lea Stevens and Helen Gordon.
